Cities are beautiful at winter nights when snow reflects city lights so that they colour the cityscape with shades of yellow, green and red. Everything seems brightly illuminated even during the darkest hours. Especially beautiful are nights after snowstorms, when thick layer of snow covers the ground. At those times everything becomes muffled. Even the downtown Helsinki with all its cars and people feels like a silent film in slow motion.
These photographs were taken in Helsinki, Finland, during few snowy winter nights in 2002. (If you don't have any idea what or where Helsinki is, check this background information.)
